LEVERKUSEN, Germany (AP) -Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voeller says Michael Ballack will probably leave the club next year.
Voeller told Sky television on Thursday, "At the moment the tendency is for him to only go on (at Leverkusen) until summer."
The 35-year-old Ballack said last month that he did not expect to renew his Leverkusen contract which expires in the offseason.
Ballack indicated he would play for another one of two years "at a high level" elsewhere.
German media has linked the former Germany captain with a move to the MLS.
Leverkusen is in Friday's Champions League draw for the last 16, and is eight points behind Bundesliga leader Bayern Munich.
