Nintendo?s Pre E3 Wii U video via Nintendo Direct has just ended and with it, we got a look at the revised Wii U Gamepad and Wii U?s Xbox 360 controller Wii U Pro Controller, along with some new features for the tablet like controller including TV remote functionality.
A peak of the Wii U?s start screen was also shown which adds what appears to be a type of social media functionality to the main screen. But it doesn?t stop there! In the Miiverse, a new, largely expanded upon Mii plaza, you can communicate with others across the world either from your Wii U, PC, and eventually your phone and talk about the games you play. The scenario shown in the video shows a man having trouble beating a troublesome zombie boss and the methods he uses to find out how to overcome it. He looks at a type of message board to find hints or clues and a friend of his sees this via his mobile device and calls him, offering his ego increasing gaming expertise. Just then however, the man finds someone that posted a message and starts up a video call with ?Grandpa? in order to figure the game out.
This type of interaction doesn?t stop there though. A small clip of what looked to be a New Super Mario Brothers title also showed this social functionality, showing messages on loading screens, and on the level select map of the game.
Overall, I?m personally more excited for the Wii U after watching the video (which can be found here) and I can?t wait to see what kind of games will be released for the platform.
We?ll be on the ground at the Nintendo E3 Press Conference Tuesday morning. Make sure to follow us on twitter as we tweet not only Nintendo, but the event overall!
