While the current drought may feel less dramatic than, say, a Colorado wildfire or Florida hurricane, it is indeed affecting millions of Americans: the farmer with dried-up crops, the rancher whose land swelters in the summer sun, the suburban family under watering restrictions or the urban couple facing high food prices.
In fact, as of July 25, 1,369 counties across 31 states are part of drought disaster areas, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
